Depart Kampala for the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, where you walk (with an armed ranger) to meet the last white rhinos of Uganda. Continue to Murchison Falls National Park for the night.
Safari and the falls
A morning game drive across the savannah: elephants, giraffes, lions, buffalo and hundreds of birds. In the afternoon, a boat cruise up the Nile to the foot of Murchison Falls, where the whole river squeezes through a 7-metre gap.
To the Chimpanzee forest
Drive south to the Kibale Forest National Park, home of the greatest density of primates in Africa. Settle into your lodge in the forest.
Chimpanzees and the Bigodi swamp
Track a habituated chimpanzee family through the forest, then walk the boardwalk of the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary with a local guide: monkeys, birds and butterflies. Optional evening village visit.
Through the crater lakes
Cross the Equator and drive through the crater lakes region of Fort Portal to Bwindi, the Impenetrable Forest. Night at the lodge on the forest edge.
The gorillas
The day you came for: a trek through the misty jungle to spend one hour with a family of mountain gorillas. Afternoon with the Batwa community, the first people of the forest.
Bunyonyi, then home
A morning canoe on Lake Bunyonyi between the terraced islands, then the transfer back to Entebbe International Airport. Uganda, whole.
