Day

Bishkek to Song-Kul

Depart Bishkek early, cross the Boom gorge and the Orto-Tokoy reservoir, then climb the Kalmak-Ashuu pass to the alpine lake of Song-Kul at 3,016 metres. Evening at the yurt camp: horses on the shore, dinner, and a bonfire under the stars.

Day

The 33 Parrots pass

Leave the yurts and cross the Terskey pass with its 33 hairpin turns, stop in Naryn for lunch, pass the border control and reach the remote valley camp that leads to Kel-Suu.

Day

The hidden Kel-Suu

A 6 km walk (or horseback) up the valley to the glacial lake of Kel-Suu, tucked between 500-metre cliffs. Turquoise water, total silence, optional boating. Descend in the late afternoon and gather at the campfire.

Water canyons to Issyk-Kul

Visit the water canyons on the way out, back through Naryn for lunch, then descend to the south shore of Issyk-Kul, the second largest alpine lake in the world, for a comfortable guesthouse night.

Altyn-Arashan

A full day around Karakol: the wild hot springs of Altyn-Arashan, reached by special transport, with snow peaks above and a swim in warm mineral water.

Ala-Kul on horseback

An early start and a climb on horseback to the pass, then the last 300 metres on foot to Ala-Kul lake at 3,942 metres. Free time for photos, then descend to the yurt camp.

Hot springs and home

Morning at the wild hot springs, lunch, a swim stop at the beach on the way, and arrival back in Bishkek by evening. The country, in one week.
